Three members of the so-called Democratic squad of progressive and newly minted members of Congress are lining up behind Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) for president next year, Fox News and other outlets are reporting on Wednesday.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) is also scheduled to appear with Sanders, who is 78, on Saturday in Queens, New York, at a “Bernie’s Back” rally.
The event is “designed to generate excitement for the senator’s campaign following his recent heart procedure,” Fox News noted.
Rep. Ihan Omar (D-Minn.) will also endorse the candidate, the outlet has confirmed.
CNN, for its part, reported that Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) will endorse Bernie Sanders as well.
It was not clear as of right now whether Omar and Tlaib will appear at the Saturday event with Ocasio-Cortez or not.

“Bernie is leading a working-class movement to defeat Donald Trump that transcends generation, ethnicity and geography,” Omar was quoted as saying in a statement posted on Twitter by the Sanders campaign — a message that Omar also retweeted on her own Twitter page.
“I believe Bernie Sanders is the best candidate to take on Donald Trump in 2020,” Omar added.
With Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) now leading in some polls and Sanders just freshly back on the campaign trail after his recent heart attack, there was some surprise the Democratic squad members wouldn’t be supporting a younger candidate and even a female candidate.
During the fourth Democrat primary debate last night, which took place in Ohio, many of the candidates went after Warren, including Mayor Pete Buttigieg of South Bend, Indiana.
He squared off with her on her refusal to give a “yes or no” answer about whether or not she’ll raise middle class taxes with her Medicare for All plan.
She deflected and never answered the question — even though he and others pushed her to do so several times.
