Say what you will about Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) — but for a part-time swamp creature, he does have President Donald Trump’s back in a clutch, as I see it.
In a new ad, McConnell is vowing to stop impeachment of President Donald Trump.
As a matter of fact, McConnell states the only way to stop the Left’s radical impeachment moves is to make sure Trump is re-elected.
McConnell is facing re-election himself in 2o20 — and he’s using the Dems’ “impeachment charade” to garner support.
I believe that McConnell will put an end to this mess, if it even comes to that.
“McConnell, who recently referred to himself as the ‘grim reaper’ of socialist Democratic legislation passed by the House of Representatives, said last week he would not have a choice but to bring impeachment to a vote in the Senate if the House majority passed such a resolution,” noted the Washington Examiner.
“It’s a Senate rule related to impeachment that would take 67 votes to change, so I would have no choice but to take it up,” he said at the time, as the Examiner pointed out. “The Senate would have to take up an impeachment resolution if it came over from the House.”
His newest campaign ad is aimed at rebuking the Democrats’ efforts to move forward with impeachment proceedings — it backs up his consistent support of Trump.
“Nancy Pelosi’s in the clutches of a left-wing mob,” McConnell says in the ad.
“They finally convinced her to impeach the president … All of you know your Constitution. The way that impeachment stops is a [Republican] Senate majority with me as majority leader.”
“But I need your help,” he adds in the message. “Please contribute before the deadline.”
While McConnell would have no choice but to take up the articles of impeachment, he has assured everyone he doesn’t have to drag it out.
In theory, McConnell could ram a vote through at warp speed — and end the Dems fiasco before it gets off the ground.
Depending on what the House does — and if this is a totally partisan it job, as it appears to be — then insiders indicate the Senate would treat it the same way and rush it through in order to quickly end it and get on with the business of the American people. In other words, there may not even be a “trial.”
This could literally be the biggest political suicide move if the Dems go through with this madness.
As The Hill pointed out, McConnell is “signaling that he’s prepared to dispose quickly of articles of impeachment against President Trump and that any upcoming trial in the Senate will look much different than the 1999 impeachment trial of President [Bill] Clinton.”
“I would have no choice but to take it up. How long you’re on it is a whole different matter,” McConnell also told CNBC this past Monday.
Bill Clinton’s trial in 1999 took a month, with three days of testimony by the House impeachment managers and another three days for the defense, The Hill also noted.
At one point, videotaped depositions were taken of key figures — including former White House intern Monica Lewinsky.
“Senate Republican sources say no decision has yet been made about whether to hold a trial but predict if there is one, it’s likely to be much shorter,” said The Hill.
Remember, as of now there isn’t even an official “impeachment inquiry.”
All the Democrats are doing now is a massive PR stunt, designed to “boost” their chances in 2o2o.

The Dems’ plan to “destroy Trump” and “boost their 2020 chances” may be backfiring spectacularly. A new poll shows that 57 percent of Americans believe Trump’s decision to investigate Biden is “legitimate.”
It also shows that Biden is hemorrhaging support as a result of the Ukraine scandal involving his son, Hunter Biden.
