Glamour’s Women of the Year Summit will be held in New York City on November 10 and 11. The group will be honoring “game-changers” and “rule-breakers” in entertainment, fashion, sports, politics and more, the magazine announced on October 22.
Yet I for one gasped when I saw that 16-year-old Greta Thunberg was included as a Glamour honoree.
This is the teenager who told me and millions of others that I can’t eat hamburgers or drive a car.
Oh, wait, that’s Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), right?
Seriously, AOC will have to stand down for now, as Thunberg — the young Swedish environmental activist — is the newest puppet of the Left, in my view.
That’s right.
Instead of AOC, we have an innocent looking teen who seems to be very angry at the world. (If looks could hurt, see her glare at President Donald Trump following her address at the United Nations on September 23.)

Heck, I was an irritable teen myself, but that had to do with break-ups with boys and not having a pair of Guess Jeans when I wanted them.
This gal from Sweden is being sucked into a media circus and a platform of fame that uses and discards people like an old pair of Sketchers. In the end, Thunberg won’t prevail over the battle of ideologies.
She needs to go back to school and be a kid.
That doesn’t seem to be the case with Thunberg, though. She fancies a fight.
When she was 15, Thunberg spent days outside the Swedish Parliament demanding to see more action on global warming. She held up a sign saying, “School strike for climate.”
Her grassroots protests sparked a movement across the country and Europe in 2018.
She set sail to New York City in a zero-emissions racing sailboat on Aug. 28, 2019, to attend the U.N. Climate Summit.

“People are suffering. People are dying. Entire ecosystems are collapsing,” Thunberg howled with discontent at the U.N. General Assembly on September 23.
“This is all wrong. I shouldn’t be up here. I should be back in school on the other side of the ocean, yet you all come to us young people for hope. How dare you,” she said.
I can applaud her bravery. I can applaud her standing up to speak her mind. That is not easy under any circumstances and about any topic, as most adults know.
But what I don’t applaud is the way she’s being used to hasten and enhance the narrative by today’s left-leaning media, politicians and culture.
Sure, she just turned down the Nordic Council’s environmental award, which would have put over $51,000 in prize money in her pocket.
She rejected the recognition in an Instagram post on Tuesday of this week because “the climate movement does not need any more awards,” she said, as CBS News and other outlets reported.
She thanked the council for the nod. But she also said, “What we need is for our politicians and the people in power to start to listen to the current, best available science.” (Will she be turning down the Glamour award, too?)
Either way, I see her as a pawn glorified by people wanting to advance their own agendas. She’s a knickknack for their shelves — and it’s shocking.
Thunberg is reciting the same tired drumbeat of climate change used by the Left, as LifeZette reported on September 20.
Look, if Glamour wants to parade women around who are game-changers — don’t nominate a child, who is still immature and impressionable and has no inkling of what the scientific facts are about global warming.
This is just as bad as the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize that was given to former President Barack Obama for his “extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between people.” It made no sense.
Neither does Thunberg’s selection as a choice for Women of the Year. That’s right, I said it. No sense.
But it makes media sense to sell and market, as something like this pushes copy and boosts pageviews.
Heck, how about women who are overcoming barriers in medicine — or how about the first all-women spacewalk that happened with astronauts Christina Koch and Jessica Meir heading into space? I don’t see them nominated.
How about first lady Melania Trump for her work with children across America and the important fight against opioids?
The Glamour Women of the Year honorees are mostly liberals. Can the powers that be at least throw in a conservative or libertarian? Where is the diversity?
Ahh. They have added diversity, in their reasoning. They’ve included a kid, because she and climate activism are a hot commodity — and make for good headlines.
Shameful.
