Since the Lord's ideas are always better than our own, explains the author ,why would we settle for anything less than His guidance?

Many times I get to the office, look at my schedule and think I know what I’m going to do with my day.

And then God changes the plan.

His plans are always better — and following Him always gives me great contentment at the end of the day, even if nothing on my list gets done.

The Bible gives us the answer: “Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act. He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday” (Psalms‬ ‭37:4-6‬).

It’s incredible how, when we commit each day to God and trust Him to guide us, He does just that.

He does everything so much better than we do.

When I am tuned to His Spirit throughout the day and am listening to His lead, He “establishes my steps” (Psalms 37:23).

Think of it: We have the privilege to be guided by the Ruler of the Universe.

Why would we settle for being led by a human — or even our own narrow and limited knowledge and desires?

As God guides each step of our life, He also completely quenches the desires of our heart.

Furthermore, our deepest desires are transformed from the transient to the eternal.

As we pursue these eternal desires, God works out our incidental physical necessities — and we find His efficiency quite amazing.

For example, when I allow God to guide my law practice, I find I always have time to minister to people’s souls — and the bills still get paid.

He does more with less and always gives me more than I need.

What are we waiting for?

Get with God. He has a plan.

Commit today to Him — and watch Him act (Psalms 37:5).
