As has been reported in numerous media outlets, NBC and its corporate leadership have been playing crisis management for some time now as revelations of an atmosphere of sexual harassment and discrimination have been laid bare at the doorstep of the Peacock Network.

Other bombshell information has come to light recently that alleges sexual assault and other misdeeds by former anchor Matt Lauer.

His corporate superiors are accused of covering up the nefarious actions. Much of this is outlined in Ronan Farrow’s new book on the ongoing scandal, “Catch and Kill.”

There is no need to belabor here what others have reported already.

But one aspect of this needs to be newly illuminated.

And that is this: How could a heart-on-its-sleeves progressive, feminist, and leftist network like NBC could endure such behavior and such personnel at the center of its organization?

The question is easily answered.

It is because the Left’s championship of feminism is a sham, in my view. It’s a convenient vehicle to excuse the outrages committed by leftist men against women. And it is done with the willing enabling of progressive women who prize ideological purity above actual advocacy against sexual harassment and worse.

In so many cases, feminism has been man’s favorite “pet,” if you will.

It is a loyal animal, overlooking the depredations of men like the late Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-Mass.) as well as former President Bill Clinton and now-disgraced film producer Harvey Weinstein — as long as those men pay lip service to feminist taking points.

It will excuse Clinton’s alleged assaults and infidelities, Kennedy’s boorish buffoonery, and Weinstein’s outrageous behavior — yet launch a media attack of unfounded and uncorroborated charges from 30 years ago against a sitting federal judge nominated to the Supreme Court.

And what is Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s great crime — that in their minds justified his “lynching” by camera? He could possibly vote against the feminist agenda on the high court.

NBC’s “get out of jail free” card? The network will protect that agenda on air — though practice the opposite of it in their private and business lives, at all costs, in my view.

Is it a double standard? Of course.

But then, we’re used to this from many on the Left.

Members of Antifa denounce global capitalism and spread the word with their iPhones.

Occupy Wall Street camps out on the streets to protest the financial markets, safe in their trust funds that come from those same markets.

Playboy was considered the feminist publication par excellence editorially — even though it displayed women as primarily sexual objects in its pages. Yet Playboy got away with that because much of feminism has been advantageous exclusively to men.

Abortion makes the consequences of casual sex less onerous. Third-wave feminism encourages individual women to compete on male terms and perhaps get bested because they are playing on a field where somebody else dictates the terms for purely ideological motivations.

In unholy alliance with the Left and the Democratic Party, “feminism” sells a facile and injurious bill of goods to women.

Gone is the legitimate campaign for equal rights under the law for women. It has been replaced by an unworkable advocacy for equal results and a blind eye toward the worst male abusers of women — such as the blue-state individuals at NBC who have long covered for Matt Lauer and his ilk as long as they tow the line.

For it’s not only the NBC peacock that has become a tame pet for the frat-house antics of limousine liberal misogynists; it’s the same status for Planned Parenthood, NOW, and the other usual suspects.

These feminists have sold the heritage of Susan B. Anthony down the river — for scraps from the tables of NBC and assorted left-wing males.
