A South Carolina priest received praise from pro-life advocates after refusing to offer Holy Communion to former Vice President Joe Biden, a 2020 Democratic presidential candidate, due to his stance on abortion.

Biden, who throughout his Senate career has tracked toward the more conservative factions of the party on abortion, has been forced to move to the Left in an era in which extremists have taken over the Democratic Party.

As such, Fr. Robert E. Morey of Saint Anthony Catholic Church in Florence, South Carolina, felt it necessary to deny Biden communion this past Sunday.

“Sadly, this past Sunday, I had to refuse Holy Communion to former Vice President Joe Biden,” Morey said in a statement to local newspapers.

“Holy Communion signifies we are one with God, each other and the church. Our actions should reflect that,” he continued. “Any public figure who advocates for abortion places himself or herself outside of church teaching.”

Morey added that he “will keep Mr. Biden in my prayers.”

Every church should be doing this when it comes to Democrats who claim to be Catholic while simultaneously advocating for babies to be aborted up until birth, in our view.

It’s not that Biden necessarily wants to be viewed as pro-abortion in the extreme, as we understand it; it’s that radicals in his own party have forced him to move in that direction in order for him to have a shot at the Democrat nomination.

Should abortion be banned in the U.S.?

Earlier this year, Biden caved on his decades-long support of the Hyde Amendment, which prevents federal funding of abortion except in cases of rape, incest or when the mother’s life is in danger.

He actually affirmed his support for it — but then flip-flopped on the matter just days later.

“I’ve been struggling with the problems that Hyde now presents,” Biden said at a rally this past summer. “I can’t justify leaving millions of women without access to the care they need and the ability to … exercise their constitutionally protected right.”

The notion is an absurd one, since women would still, as the law dictates, be able to exercise that “right” but wouldn’t get taxpayer money for doing something that over half the nation disagrees with morally.

Biden is clearly not a man of his convictions; he tends to flail in whatever direction the political winds happen to be blowing.

Unfortunately for the Democrat Party, the winds are being dictated by a lot of hot air from the unhinged faction of the resistance.

The former vice president succumbed to people like Cher, who demanded he adjust his position on the Hyde Amendment and support a woman’s supposed right to have an abortion paid for by the federal government.

The ironic part here is that much of the media will likely portray Fr. Morey as the extreme one.
