Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) — a candidate for the 2020 Democratic nomination — experienced chest discomfort during a campaign event he was holding in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Tuesday.

He has now had two stents inserted to address a blockage that doctors found in an artery after he was hospitalized, his campaign announced and multiple outlets are reporting on Wednesday mid-morning.

“Sen. Sanders is conversing and in good spirits. He will be resting up over the next few days,” Sanders’ senior adviser Jeff Weaver said in a statement.

“We are canceling his events and appearances until further notice, and we will continue to provide appropriate updates.”

The campaign stresses the “good spirits” — but “until further notice” also carries an ominous note.

Sanders is 78.

Back in March, he bumped his head and had to have stitches, Fox News reported.

“It is the second time this cycle that Sen. Sanders … has had to deal with some medical issues on the trail,” reported Peter Doocy of Fox News on Wednesday morning.

“During a campaign event yesterday evening, Sen. Sanders experienced some chest discomfort,” the Sanders campaign statement also said.

“Following medical evaluation and testing he was found to have a blockage in one artery and two stents were successfully inserted.”
