In an interview with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos over the weekend, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) was mildly criticized for completely fabricating quotes by President Donald Trump during a congressional hearing last week connected to a so-called whistleblower’s allegations about a July phone call between Trump and the president of Ukraine.

Rather than admit his behavior was reprehensible, Schiff peddled more fabrications.

He said the outrage over the way he submitted false quotes into the congressional record was nothing more than anger over how he’d played a key role in pushing the Ukraine hoax.

Schiff, who serves as House Intelligence Committee chairman, used his time at a hearing with Joseph Maguire, acting director of National Intelligence, to completely and undeniably make quotes up out of thin air.

Stephanopoulus played the clip of Schiff’s fictional account — and inquired why he felt the need to do such a thing.

“That was you making up dialogue, putting it in the president’s mouth,” Stephanopoulos said.

“If the facts are as damning as you say, why make up dialogue for dramatic effect, even if it’s a ‘parody,’ as you say?”

Schiff insisted that people were and are angry for very different reasons.

“Let’s not pretend that this is really what the president is upset with me about,” Schiff said — pretending he was mad for other reasons.

“I can tell you exactly why the president is furious with me, and that is because when I learned that a whistleblower had filed a complaint and urgent complaint that was being withheld from Congress, and no one knew about this yet, I went public to demand that we get that complaint,” he suggested.

Or maybe it’s because Schiff has made things up out of thin air?

Incidentally, Schiff, in this very same interview, repeated one of his fabricated claims.

“The president used that opportunity to try to coerce that leader to manufacture dirt on his opponent and interfere in our election,” Schiff claimed. “It’s hard to imagine a series of facts more damning than that.”

One, if anyone could imagine it, it’d be a guy who fantasizes about Trump’s impeachment.

Two, there is absolutely zero evidence supporting any claim that the president told anybody to “manufacture dirt.”

The phrase “manufacture dirt” is simply another in a long line of made-up “facts” from the California Democrat.

The phone call’s transcript — which Trump released in the interests of transparency — showed there was no quid pro quo.

Nothing inappropriate was mentioned on the call and no threats were made.

There was no attempt to “manufacture dirt.”

Both Ukraine’s president and foreign minister have flat-out denied there was any pressure or coercion to manufacture a scandal during the phone call.

It’s all a part of the Schiff playbook. It didn’t work during the Russia collusion hoax — and it’s not about to work now.

While peddling the Russia conspiracy, Schiff claimed repeatedly there was “evidence of collusion,” but as the Mueller report made clear, no collusion was found.

He also suggested the Russia hoax was “of a size and scope probably beyond Watergate,” yet there was no actionable collusion or obstruction.

Schiff went so far, as he is wont to do, to make up a phone conversation between Donald Trump Jr. and his father that was later debunked by … well, reality.

This man is the House Intelligence Committee chairman and he has fabricated lie after lie to try to take down the president of the United States.

Schiff’s refusal to admit flagrantly misleading the American people is a disgrace to him and his office and he should resign, in our view.
