Michelle Obama must really need the extra cash to pay for that new Martha’s Vineyard mansion that she and her husband, Barack Obama, bought — ticket prices for her latest event are through the roof.
The former first lady is hosting an event called “A Moderated Conversation with Michelle Obama,” and ticket prices are as high as $4,200 each.
That’s not very “moderated,” if you ask me. However, that absurdly high cost does grant a person “suite level,” whatever that means.
If you’re an average middle-class American looking for a bargain, floor tickets are going for about $1,300 each.
Who on earth would pay these prices?
A mere $144 will get someone a simple seat to the Obama event. That amount is about what this writer pays per month for Obamacare insurance — and that’s about $44 more than it costs to see Billy Joel in the cheap seats.
(For these prices, will she sing and dance, too?)
If that’s still too rich for your blood, don’t worry: You and a friend can slum it in “steerage” for about $72 each, which is reasonable, I guess, if you don’t have things like bills, groceries, and utilities to worry about.
Truthfully, I wouldn’t spend $10 to hear Michelle Obama speak, but that’s my opinion.
Here’s how The New York Post describes the upcoming event: “Former first lady Michelle Obama is coming to Newark [New Jersey] on November 3 and fans are shelling out big bucks to hear what she has to say.”
“The cheap seats for the ‘Moderated Conversation’ at the Prudential Center were going for $144 on Ticketmaster. Want face time? Prime seats and a ‘meet and greet’ will cost you $2,500. Floor seats are priced as high as $1,300 and the most expensive ticket currently available is $4,200 for a suite-level ducat.”
The Post also noted that Mrs. Obama will make five stops in Canada and one in Texas beginning on September. 23. The moderator is to be announced at a later date.
Last year, the same individual went on a similar tour to promote her memoir, “Becoming.”
Michelle Obama is raking it in on the speaker circuit.
She’s so far had great financial success by hosting these types of “intimate events.” Her appearance in March of 2018, for example, at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California, was “not part of a plan to launch her political career, sources say. It’s just a way to make money,” as Page Six reported last year.
“’There are some bright young people out there doing some amazing things,’ the former first lady said at that time, the same source also noted. ‘This is why I’m not going to run for president,’ she added. ‘Because I think it’s a better investment to invest in creating thousands of me’s.'”
At the Oracle Arena for her event, the cheapest ticket was $93.50, Page Six reported. First-row VIP seats went for $3,150.
