I like being my Heavenly Father’s tagalong child.

Yep — you heard it right. I’m a tagalong.

Why?

Well, when I finally decided to get to know Him, I discovered the friend I always wished I had.

I began to listen for His voice and ask Him for guidance, even for the smallest problems.

He wasn’t annoyed.

I think He’s been waiting for me to follow Him my entire life.

If He created this complex universe, then He definitely has the wisdom to guide me in my everyday decision.

We begin listening to God when we figure out that He is a whole lot smarter than we are.

The Book of Proverbs says, “The Lord by wisdom founded the earth; by understanding he established the heavens; by his knowledge the deeps broke open, and the clouds drop down the dew. My son, do not lose sight of these—keep sound wisdom and discretion, and they will be life for your soul and adornment for your neck. Then you will walk on your way securely, and your foot will not stumble. If you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet” (Proverbs‬ ‭3:19-24‬).

I cannot comprehend the wisdom it took to create the sheer vastness of the universe.

However, I don’t have to — all I need to know is that the Creator unequivocally loves me.

After I’ve spent a day being His tagalong, I sit back and marvel.

With God, I get more done in one hour than I do in an entire week by myself.

He knows what I should say to a grieving father.

He knows which expert to choose for a legal case.

He knows it all.

God’s answers aren’t always what I think they will be, but they’re always right.

As I begin my day, I can almost audibly hear my Heavenly Father say, “Come along beside me, my dear child, and let’s discover today together.”
