Republicans are once again taking up for someone who doesn’t give a rat’s tail for them or anything for which they stand.
CNN’s Chris Cuomo found himself in a near-beatdown a few nights ago when some trolls labeled him “Fredo” — which is pulled from “The Godfather” movies.
Cuomo seemingly wanted to fight the guys in the video for calling him out of his name.
All day on Tuesday, people on social media made fun of the CNN anchor, who claimed that the use of the name “Fredo” was akin to the N word for blacks.
President Donald Trump even made fun early on Tuesday morning — but Republicans pushed back on the response against Cuomo.

Trump had a few words to say on Tuesday night about the situation and about the spine of Republicans in general.
“It always happens! When a conservative does even a fraction of what Chris Cuomo did with his lunatic ranting, raving, & cursing, [that person gets] destroyed by the fake news,” Trump tweeted.
“But when a liberal democrat like Chris Cuomo does it, Republicans immediately come to his defense. We never learn!”

Show video of Cuomo’s meltdown — and immediately follow it up with the “Godfather II” clip of Fredo telling Michael, “I can handle things. I’m smaaaht” — and tell this opinion writer that doesn’t fit Cuomo to a “T.”
Why would Cuomo play the victim card here when it’s so easily refuted?
Is he that cocooned that he actually believes it? Or is he that cynical that he thinks he and the force of CNN can make it happen?
He made himself look small. He cheapened racism. It’s a loss all around, in my opinion.
Somewhere, John Cazale, who played Fredo, is smiling from all of this attention.
He had a short career but appeared in major movies like “Dog Day Afternoon” (he played the second bank robber), “The Deer Hunter,” and “The Conversation.”
Cazale, who died at the young age of 42 from lung cancer, was Meryl Streep’s partner.
