Hurricane Dorian, which is strengthening as we speak, is currently hovering over the Atlantic Ocean on Thursday morning.
Forecasts are showing the storm will become more dangerous as it makes its way to Florida’s east coast.
That news spurred President Donald Trump to warn Floridians and many others about what lies ahead.
The National Hurricane Center (NHC) said, as of 11 a.m. EST, that Dorian is a Category 1 storm.
It has sustained winds near 85 mph, as Fox News also noted, and it is moving northwest at 13 mph.
Tropical-storm-force winds from #Dorian could begin in parts of Florida *as early as* Saturday evening. Now is the time to begin thinking about what kinds of preparations you might need to make over the next couple of days. https://t.co/yChCF6oWL9 pic.twitter.com/jb2KUxHpzA

It was located about 220 miles north-northwest of San Juan, Puerto Rico, the NHC said.
Forecasters say the storm will strengthen into a dangerous Category 3 hurricane by Friday — “staying well east of the southern and central Bahamas before making a turn toward Florida by Sunday afternoon.”
“At that time, the latest NHC forecast is for the storm to be a Category 4 storm as it approaches Florida.”
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has declared a state of emergency for a number of counties.
