The San Francisco Board of Supervisors has decided the best way to combat rising crime and integrate criminals back into society is to rebrand them.

The board, consisting exclusively of Democrats, voted to adopt a new set of “person first” language guidelines that would sugarcoat terms used to describe criminals, as reported by the San Francisco Chronicle.

Sure, the city is suffering from one of the highest crime rates in the country.

But in the mind of the politically correct Left, the important thing is to soften language applying to offenders.

As such, the new guidelines dictate that somebody formerly labeled as a “convicted felon” will henceforth be referred to as a “formerly incarcerated person,” a “justice-involved” person, or simply a “returning resident.”

“We don’t want people to be forever labeled for the worst things that they have done,” Supervisor Matt Haney told the Chronicle.

Even better, the resolution specifically states that using terms such as “convicted felon,” “inmate,” or “prisoner” is — you guessed it — racist.

The offending words “only serve to obstruct and separate people from society and make the institutionalization of racism and supremacy appear normal,” the resolution states.

Or, you know, it accurately describes people that have broken the law.

There’s that, too.

The resolution is non-binding, but the district attorney’s office has indicated it’s on board with the new language.

“It [San Francisco] is not even recognizable lately. Something must be done before it is too late.”

The Chronicle snarkily wondered that if the same language adjustments were made for victims of a crime, then a person whose car had been broken into by a felon on parole with a drug problem would be dubbed: “A person who has come in contact with a returning resident who was involved with the justice system and who is currently under supervision with a history of substance use.”

Is it any wonder why President Donald Trump has hammered House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) for her home district being in shambles due to liberal policies?

“Speaking of failing badly, has anyone seen what is happening to Nancy Pelosi’s district in San Francisco?” Trump said recently.

“It is not even recognizable lately. Something must be done before it is too late.”

Don’t you worry, Mr. President. The Democrats are on it with a rigid new plan to not offend criminals by sugarcoating what they are called. Crime doesn’t stand a chance.
