“I think the word ‘recession’ is inappropriate because it’s just a word that certain people — I’m going to be kind — certain people in the media are trying to build up because they’d love to see a recession,” Trump said.

“We’re very far from a recession,” he also said.

The president made these comments to reporters at the White House, adding that it’s the job of the Federal Reserve to push growth.

“If the Fed would do its job, I think we would have a tremendous spur of growth,” Trump said.

The president criticized the Federal Reserve for engaging in quantitative tightening, describing it as something that’s “very bad to do.”

“You have to be proactive,” Trump said. “They have to do a rate cut,” he continued.

Trump said he was seeking a tax cut as part of his economic plans, whether that includes capital gains or even a payroll tax.

One America News Network’s Jack Posobiec wanted to know if the media’s recession talk was just their latest strategy against the president.

“I would love to do something on capital gains. We’re talking about that, that’s a big deal, it goes through Congress … Payroll tax is something that we think about and a lot of people would like to see that, and that very much affects the workers in our country — and we have a lot of workers,” Trump said.

The president said some of his advisers have supported indexing capital gains, which is also something he could work around Congress to do.

“Payroll taxes — I’ve been thinking about payroll taxes for a long time, whether or not we do it now or not — it’s not being done because of recession,” Trump said.

One America News Network’s Jack Posobiec wanted to know if the media’s recession talk was just their latest strategy against the president.

“The three Rs of lib media in the Trump Era: Russia, Racism, Recession,” he wrote on Twitter.

Posobiec makes a good point, and he isn’t the only one who has made it.

Conservative Joshua Curtis also tweeted, “So, Mueller stabbed the media in the back by issuing no indictments against the president. Now they’re dredging up racism. And then they come right out and admit they want a recession to get rid of Trump.”

“The heck with American workers, give ’em a recession. Disgusting.”

Disgusting, indeed. It seems as if the mainstream media will stop at nothing to hurt this president, in our view — and appearing to want a recession is their latest trick.

The economy is good right now under Donald Trump — and if that changes the media should not be so happy about it. They should report the news, not try to create it based on their own partisan leanings.
