Ocasio-Cortez Says She Does Not Regret Comparing Border Facilities to Holocaust Concentration Camps

Democratic lawmaker, however, continues to believe some media outlets mischaracterize her

Recent comments by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) (shown above left, beside House Speaker Nancy Pelosi) should make everyone’s decision about the November 2020 elections a lot easier, in my opinion.

In a new interview, the Democratic lawmaker from New York’s District 14 said she doesn’t regret invoking the Holocaust and making the “concentration camp” comparison to the detention centers at the border that are now temporarily holding people who have come to this country unlawfully.

That’s right: She doesn’t regret the comparison.

But she does feel that her statements were misinterpreted.

Here’s how the Washington Examiner described part of her recent interview with ABC7 New York, as shown in the video above.

“One, I don’t regret it at all. A group, in fact, of — I think 200, at least 200 — historians, rabbis, academics have come together in support of this term,” she said.

In terms of whether she believes the conditions at the border facilities are the same as conditions at the death camps run by the Nazis during World War II, Ocasio-Cortez said she does — pointing to a visit she made to the border with other members of Congress.

“I’ve seen it. I’ve sat on concrete floors with woman whose hair was falling out and they’re developing sores in their mouth,” she said in the interview.

“Parents are dying with their children watching them and all without a trial — all with just an accusation, and all with the intent to dehumanize.”

This is the kind of stuff that will drive swing voters to Trump.

Ocasio-Cortez — a member of the so-called Democratic squad — also said it was “ahistorical” for Republicans to accuse her of being anti-Semitic for downplaying the Holocaust to score political points.

As if ignorance isn’t enough, this individual refuses to learn, in my opinion — and instead, she continues a narrative that fits her worldview.

This is the kind of stuff that will drive swing voters to Trump.

This is about equivocations and overreactions — and people are tired, really tired, of being called racist, etc., when they’re not.
