Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) expressed interest in seeing former President Barack Obama questioned under oath about the counterintelligence investigation against the Trump campaign.

Graham, appearing in a segment with Fox News host Sean Hannity on Thursday night, was discussing the investigation that former FBI Director James Comey and a rogue team of investigators undertook in the summer of 2016.

He would like answers as to what Obama knew and when he knew it — something he’s been asking about for some time.

“The bottom line is who briefed President Obama, if anybody, about the counterintelligence investigation against the Trump campaign?” asked Graham.

“And … why did they not tell the Trump campaign that they had concerns about people working for him tied to Russia?”

It’s a concern also raised by Kevin R. Brock, former assistant director of intelligence for the FBI, who called Comey’s handling of the investigation “not the normal way” to conduct business.

Hannity pushed Graham on the issue of whether or not Obama had to know what was taking place.

“Does that mean that Barack Obama, the president at the time, should be asked what he knew and when he knew it about all this?” he asked.

Graham responded, “I cannot imagine it happening without somebody in the White House knowing about it. And the question for me is who told Obama?”

Hannity pushed Graham further on the matter.

“Do you think he needs to be asked those questions, sir, under oath?” he asked.

“Absolutely,” Graham responded. “If there is — ‘I’m going to call, talk to McCabe, Comey, all of them, Brennan, Clapper. Did you ever inform President Obama about the counterintelligence investigation? What did you tell him? When did you tell him?’ Yes, and I’d like to know what President Obama thought about the investigation.”

We’re rather intrigued, too.

When asked by ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos months ago about the depth of Obama’s knowledge regarding the counterintelligence investigation, President Donald Trump insisted he “had to know” about the FBI “setup.”

He hedged ever so slightly when asked if he thought Obama was behind the whole thing.

“I would say that he certainly must have known about it because it went very high up in the chain,” the president said. “But you’re going to find that out, I’m not going to make that statement quite yet, but I would say that President Obama had to know about it.”

Let’s hear from the man himself, under oath, as Graham suggests.
