Once again, a 2020 candidate for the Democratic nomination — Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) — looks beyond the enforcing of American law and tries to pull on the heartstrings of others by calling this past week’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids in Mississippi a “campaign of terror.”
The California candidate for the White House said the raids were meant to scare immigrants and their families.
That is hilarious to this opinion writer because, once again, she didn’t add the word “illegal” or “unlawful” to that sentence.
On Sunday, Harris appeared on NBC’s “Meet the Press” with Chuck Todd.
That’s right after she was dealt a huge blow in the national polls this past week.
Her campaign appears to be losing ground after the second round of primary debates.

Here’s how the interview unfolded.
Todd said to her, “Believe it or not, law enforcement told us that they had to be intentionally vague about the companies that were, quote, raided. Explain to me — you were a prosecutor. Why were the workers targeted and not the companies?”
Harris replied that “the employers have to be responsible. They have to do whatever is required by law.”
“But there’s another point here, Chuck, which is that this administration has directed DHS [the Department of Homeland Security] to conduct these raids as part of what I believe is this administration’s campaign of terror,” Harris added. “Which is to make whole populations of people afraid to go to work.”
“Children are afraid to go to school for fear that when they come home, their parents won’t be there,” she also said.
Harris admitted that “employers have to be responsible. They have to do whatever is required by law.”
Todd asked her, “Can he [President Trump] say anything at this point to reassure Hispanic Americans?”
Harris responded, “I don’t think it would be authentic if he did. I think people are smart enough to know that.”
She added, “There’s an old saying: ‘Judge me by my actions, not my words.’ His actions have been to divide, to vilify, to do what is contrary to who we are as Americans.”
