When we live in our own strength, we rob ourselves of God’s strength.
God promised, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9).
Paul the Apostle responded, “Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
I have definitely not yet learned to “delight in weaknesses.”
However, I see God’s amazing power and wisdom much more clearly when I’m weak.
Paul was able to “delight” because he had this truth worked deep into his soul.

When we live leaning upon God, we more greatly experience His power. There is nothing else like it.
When we have it, we know it’s foolish to try to accomplish much without it.
It’s like using our own brute strength to push a car instead of using the engine built into the system.
Why, then, is my first impulse — when I’m presented with a problem or a decision — to engage my own strength instead of God’s?
It’s the same problem Eve had in the garden, and it’s the biggest challenge for the entire human race.
We all fight to live independently from God.
When we lean completely upon God, we are like a bird set free from a cage and we soar to heights we’ve never known.
We think that by trusting Him, we will lose our precious freedom.
Nothing could be further from the truth.

Dependence upon God engages His Almighty power.
When our weaknesses are empowered by God’s strength, we live in delight and amazement as we become part of His miracles.
