President Donald Trump scores political wins almost daily.
These wins are for the American people and most importantly, for those who serve or who have served in our military.
Yet most Americans aren’t getting the full truth about what’s going on in these positive areas — because the mainstream media refuse to cover most of these actions or give them short shrift.
I know the “radical four” — the Democratic squad — are eating up the airwaves with their anti-Semitic rhetoric and hate agenda against Trump, while the media stay busy promoting 2020 Democratic candidates Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren and others.
Yet President Trump has always had a special place in his heart for our troops, especially our veterans. These are the men and women who risked it all to keep us free.
During his time in office so far, Trump has scored major wins for veterans with landmark legislation, including for the Veteran’s Administration.
The new piece of legislation that he signed at the end of July will honor some 1,600 service members who were killed or wounded during previously undeclared periods of war. “The LEGION Act (Let Everyone Get Involved In Opportunities for National Service Act) also opens the door for approximately six million veterans to access American Legion programs and benefits for which they previously had not been eligible,” The American Legion noted in a report about these developments.
“Recognizing the service of these wartime veterans is the right thing do and it is long overdue,” National Commander Brett Reistad said, as the organization reported.
“The families of those who were killed or wounded during these wartime acts should take pride in knowing that we recognize their sacrifice and service. Moreover, we are proud to welcome any of the six million living veterans from the previously unrecognized periods into our organization and call them ‘Legionnaires.’”
“Now that the legislation has been signed, The American Legion’s eligibility criteria immediately changes from seven war eras to two: April 6, 1917, to Nov. 11, 1918, and Dec. 7, 1941 to a time later determined by the federal government.”
“No other restrictions to American Legion membership are changed. ”
The American Legion actively helps military personnel and veterans find rewarding jobs and business opportunities in civilian life.
Each year, The American Legion helps thousands of veterans receive the benefits they earned through service to their country. The Legion conducts, promotes and supports hundreds of career fairs for veterans and transitioning service members, bringing employers face-to-face with job hunters. There are other worthy programs as well.
“The families of those who were killed or wounded during these wartime acts should take pride in knowing that we recognize their sacrifice and service.”
We as a nation should take care of our veterans — they paid the price to help keep us safe.
We are truly the best at caring for our people.
In today’s media environment, it’s a disgrace for veterans like me to have to listen to nonsense news and hear Democrats or others say they refuse to help us.
I would challenge anyone to name a president who has fought harder for our veterans in the last 50 years than President Donald Trump.
