Vogue editor Anna Wintour just disrespected Melania Trump when she was asked about the first lady’s style — and sidestepped the question by gushing about Michelle Obama instead.

Wintour was a major donor to Hillary Clinton during the 2016 campaign.

Fox News reported that Wintour made the comments on the Economist podcast to interviewer Anne McElvoy, who said that Melania Trump “very consciously” wore outfits designed by British designers while visiting the United Kingdom last month.

McElvoy then asked Wintour what she thought about Melania Trump’s fashion choices — but the Vogue editor responded by talking about Michelle Obama instead.

“Well, I think first lady Michelle Obama really was so incredible in every decision she made about fashion,” Wintour replied. “She supported young American designers. She supported designers, indeed, from all over the world. She was the best ambassador that this country could possibly have in many ways, obviously, way beyond fashion.”

“But she’s not the first lady now. So what about the one you’ve got now?” asked McElvoy.

“To me, [Michelle] is the example that I admire,” Wintour responded.

Michelle Obama was on the cover of Vogue three times when she was first lady — and though Melania Trump spent years working as a successful fashion model, she has yet to be on the covers.

When Wintour was asked a few months ago about featuring first ladies on the cover of her magazine — she did not mention Melania and appeared to take a jab at her without saying her name.

“You have to stand up for what you believe in and you have to take a point of view,” Wintour said. “We profile women in the magazine that we believe in the stand that they’re taking on issues we support them, we feel that they are leaders.”

Melania Trump ended up firing back at this with a blistering statement issued by her spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham.

“This just further demonstrates how biased the fashion magazine industry is, and shows how insecure and small-minded Anna Wintour really is. Unfortunately, Mrs. Trump is used to this kind of divisive behavior.”

“To be on the cover of Vogue doesn’t define Mrs. Trump. She’s been there, done that long before she was first lady,” Grisham said. “Her role as first lady of the United States and all that she does is much more important than some superficial photo shoot and cover. This just further demonstrates how biased the fashion magazine industry is, and shows how insecure and small-minded Anna Wintour really is. Unfortunately, Mrs. Trump is used to this kind of divisive behavior.”
