A new poll released on Monday shows that President Donald Trump’s approval rating has reached a record high.

The new NPR/NewsHour/Marist poll indicated that Trump’s approval rating hit 44 percent.

That’s the highest level at which it has ever been recorded among mainstream polls.

The only exception to that is a July 7 Washington Post poll, which gave the president a 47 percent approval rating.

Those who participated in the poll were surveyed from July 15 to July 17.

That’s interesting, as the data were gathered after Trump’s tweets insisting four freshman Democratic congresswomen of color should “go back” to their home countries. (Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minneosta is shown above right.)

In this same poll, Trump’s approval rating has been between 35 and 43 percent since he entered office.

It looks like the president is also making new inroads with independents.

“The poll, which included responses from 1,336 adults, also found that Trump has won over a small but significant group of independents in the last month,” reports National Review.

“His approval rating among independents increased from 35 percent last month to 42 percent in the latest poll.”

That’s a significant jump among independents, one of the most important groups when it comes to swinging elections toward either party.

“Meanwhile, the percentage of respondents who said they will definitely vote against Trump remained unchanged from last month at 53 percent,” the report also noted.

It’s telling that at precisely the moment Democrats are screaming the loudest that Trump is unfit for office, he gets his highest numbers to date.

Other news. There was additional and potentially ground-shifting news in the poll: Respondents were not too excited about the Democrats.

“Democrats remain unpopular with the group: 43 percent of respondents in the poll said they believed Democrats would take the country in a positive direction if given the opportunity, compared with 46 percent who said the party would lead the country in a negative direction,” National Review observed.

Anything can happen between now and the November 2020 election, but it is telling, in our view, that at precisely the moment Democrats are screaming the loudest that Donald Trump is unfit for office, he gets his highest numbers to date.

Keep yelling, Democrats!
