Ocasio-Cortez Feels Saddled with Work by Nancy Pelosi

The young New York Democrat, snubbing a committee assignment, whined that her 'hands are full' and wondered if her leadership is 'trying to keep me busy'

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), who once complained lawmakers aren’t paid enough, whined that Democrat leaders such as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) are trying to muzzle her by making her work.

In an interview last week with New Yorker Radio, Ocasio-Cortez described an exchange she and the House speaker had, during which the freshman congresswoman declined a seat offered to her on a climate change committee.

Following that incident, AOC apparently was put to work.

“I was assigned to two of … the busiest committees and four subcommittees,” she said after snubbing the climate change offer. “So my hands are full. And sometimes I wonder if they’re trying to keep me busy,” Ocasio-Cortez groused.

Pelosi actually mocked Ocasio-Cortez and her merry band of unhinged leftists, Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.), and Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), this past weekend.

“They didn’t have any following,” Pelosi scoffed after the group voted against a bipartisan border funding bill. “They’re four people and that’s how many votes they got.”

“All these people have their public whatever and their Twitter world. But they didn’t have any following,” the speaker added.

Pelosi was asked if she regrets making fun of the congressional newbies, to which she responded, “No. I have no regrets about anything.”

AOC also complained that Pelosi doesn’t treat her as an equal and that they have no meaningful relationship.

“You know, I think sometimes people think that we have this — like we have a relationship,” she said during the interview.

“Are you saying you don’t?” interjected the host.

“Not, not particularly, not one that’s I think distinguished from anyone else,” she said.

Pelosi met with Democratic lawmakers at the Capitol on Wednesday morning and absolutely unloaded on Ocasio-Cortez indirectly for continuing spats with lawmakers on social media.

“You got a complaint? You come and talk to me about it. But do not tweet about our members and expect us to think that that is just OK,” the speaker said, according to a source for The Daily Mail. (Catfight!)

Pelosi instructed the Democrat lawmakers to make her the object of their anger.

“You make me the target, but don’t make our blue dogs and our new Dems the target in all of this because we have important fish to fry,” she reportedly said.

The Democrats will head into the 2020 election with absolutely no legislative accomplishments to speak of, in our view, as long as Pelosi has to keep babysitting the radicals in her party.
