MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow Show Plummets to Fifth Place, Has Lost Over 800,000 Viewers

It's the first time since October 2018, reports Nielsen Media Research, that she's finished outside the top three cable news shows among total viewership

You might say that MSNBC’s prime-time host Rachel Maddow is the cornerstone of that network.

She was getting more viewers than all of the other shows in her slot because — along with being a great storyteller — she was willing to push conspiracy theories every night.

Now her monthly ratings have dropped by more than 800,000 viewers since the beginning of 2019.

Nielsen Media Research reported that Maddow’s best month was in January 2019, when her average audience number was an astounding 3,288,000 viewers.

I use the word “astounding” because she rarely gave the news — and people still watched her show.

Since February, Maddow has not exceeded an average of 3 million viewers — and in that time slot, that’s a failure.

One would look to the end of the Russian investigation as a reason for the decline.

As I’ve said before, she was big into the collusion and obstruction of justice allegations against President Donald Trump — and she rode that donkey until she couldn’t ride it anymore.

When Mueller didn’t find any evidence of a conspiracy, Maddow lost her holy grail.

Maddow lost half a million viewers, according to The Daily Beast, soon after the Mueller investigation went bye-bye.
