Earlier this year, Alabama’s Senate passed by a 25-6 vote what many have described as one of the strictest abortion laws in the U.S.
It basically acknowledges that the child in the womb is a person; it was signed into law by Republican Gov. Kay Ivey in May.
The new law features strict penalties for doctors who perform abortions, making it a felony in virtually all cases, unless there is a “a serious health risk” to the mother.

There is no exception for cases or rape or incest.
The bill’s co-sponsor, state Rep. Terri Collins (R), explained why: “The reasoning is the same reasoning. Roe v. Wade … decided that the baby in the womb was not a person. So this bill bases its reasoning [on the fact] that the baby in the womb is a person. And we based it on the fact that in Alabama law, we currently consider the baby in the womb a person.”
“The biggest thing to attack it with is to say, ‘What, you’re not going to include rape and incest?’” Collins continued. “Well, how do we say, ‘The baby inside is a person unless they’re conceived in rape or incest’?”
But beyond the details of the law, how absurd is it that Bette Midler or anyone else would suggest that merely being pregnant in Alabama would be a crime?
Leave it to the Hollywood Left to take everything to the extreme — every time.
