Using her Twitter account on Saturday as a community bullhorn, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) sent a warning to illegal immigrants who live in major cities across this country.
She alerted them to the fact that officials with our Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency soon will begin their scheduled work to keep America safe by identifying those who are here in this country illegally — those who have broken America’s laws — and to escort them back out of the country.
President Donald Trump has been doing everything in his power, despite opposition from elected Democrats, to work to keep this country safe and to protect the border from a barrage of unlawful immigrants flowing into our country.
These groups sometimes carry with them members of gangs, drug dealers and worse.
Here’s AOC’s tweet from this weekend:
Warning: The Trump admin is expected to begin ICE raids across the country TOMORROW, targeting people for round up.
NOW is the time for us to come together:

She seems to have forgotten, ignored or overlooked a few things, to put it mildly.

First, there has been an unprecedented flow of illegal immigrant “family units” making their way into our country in recent months.
As most people know, the children in these groups are often recycled — shuttled back and forth — by those who are committing crimes in an effort to take advantage of America’s largesse. Criminals use these children to commit their own crimes. It’s reprehensible.
Second, the Trump administration has been working hard to erect barriers and walls, deploy agents, and otherwise work to handle the incoming flow of migrants into this country — and to process the many thousands who claim asylum when that’s not, in many cases, the reason they’ve tried to come here.
Customs and Border Patrol agents have also been helping to care for the thousands upon thousands of children who are coming across the border — supplying diapers and doing much more to address the needs of these people.
As Kellyanne Conway, counselor to the president, told Fox News’ “Fox & Friends” on Monday morning, “This is all up to the Democrats in Congress. As the president and I and others who speak on his behalf have made clear for a year-plus, they can solve some of these problems in one simple session if they would just come to the table.”
Third, Trump himself sent a note out on Twitter early Monday morning sharing the latest updates about the planned activity by ICE to help keep this country safe.
Here’s his message to the American people and to Congress:
I want to give the Democrats every last chance to quickly negotiate simple changes to Asylum and Loopholes. This will fix the Southern Border, together with the help that Mexico is now giving us. Probably won’t happen, but worth a try. Two weeks and big Deportation begins!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 23, 2019
Even before that message came out, it’s rather unbelievable that a member of Congress, elected last fall, would go out of her way to share information on social media for those here illegally in an effort to help them avoid detection and arrest.
What’s going on here?
Speaking to Fox News’ Leland Vitter on Sunday, Rep. Greg Steube (R-Fla.) said the president’s willingness to compromise with Democrats gave him hope that Congress could stem the flowing tide of illegal immigrants — and find a permanent fix to the immigration crisis.
“The president certainly is willing to make a deal. Look at the things that he offered. I mean, he’s willing to go a lot farther than the probably more conservative members of the House are willing to go to get a deal,” the lawmaker said.
“I think with the president’s leadership on this, hopefully, we can get something done.”
“But all the Democrats are doing is stalling and doing nothing on this issue right now while hundreds of thousands of people every month are coming illegally into our country.”
