Pelosi, Beyond the Pale, Rips into ‘Criminal’ Trump
House speaker used a press talk to slam the president— whatever happened to the legislative role of Congress?
Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) ripped into President Donald Trump on Thursday, accusing him of a cover-up once again.
But this time she added the word “criminal.”
Every Thursday, Pelosi holds a press conference in which she takes questions and disparages Republicans in public — but on Thursday she went beyond the pale.
Pelosi took questions about the president’s recent statement that he was open to taking dirt from foreign nationals to use against his political opponents when he was asked that question explicitly.
Democrats have gone after the president for this and will probably try to use this for impeachment purposes.
Here is Pelosi speaking to the media:
Pelosi: “Everybody in the country should be totally appalled by what the president said last night. But he has a habit of making appalling statements. This one borders on so totally unethical that he doesn’t even realize it.”
“He does not know the difference between right and wrong,” she continued, “and that’s probably the nicest thing I can say about him. What is it about the Republicans in Congress? How much more can they bear of the president’s unethical behavior that they think that they are honoring their oath of office?”
Pelosi was asked whether it was “a good idea” to accuse Trump of a criminal cover-up right before her aborted infrastructure meeting with him a few weeks ago.
She answered, “I say almost every day that the president is involved in a criminal cover-up. He just chose to pick it up that day.”
