Rather astonishing (or maybe not) — but all 10 Democratic candidates who debated on Thursday evening in Miami, Florida, during the live event that aired on NBC and MSNBC said they support taxpayer-funded health coverage for people who are in this country illegally.

The president himself took note and sent out the following tweet about it:

Among the Democratic primary debaters on Thursday night were former Vice President Joe Biden, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), and Sen. Kirstin Gillibrand (D-N.Y.).

Naturally, most people sitting in the debate audience clapped and cheered when these Democrats raised their hands.

“It’s beyond extreme,” noted Steve Guest of the Republican National Committee in an emailed message on Thursday night.

“And there’s no way the American people are going to support it.”
