Pelosi Says Impeachment Is Not the Only Way to Hold Trump Accountable

What crime did President Donald Trump actually commit, in which there is actual evidence, that would allow the Democrats to proceed with impeachment?

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) held a “private call” with Democratic leaders on Monday about what they should do about President Trump and the results of the Mueller report.

Seems like things didn’t go the Democrats’ way, did it?

They are scrambling. I have never seen anything like this before; now they are circling burning wagons to see what they have left to do.

To Nancy Pelosi, the message is this: Trump should be held “accountable” for … what? Not breaking the law?

Hillary Clinton and the Democrat National Committee actually paid for information from Russia. Trump never received any information about Clinton from Russia, much less pay for information from Russians.

Responding to calls from some of her members to impeach Trump for acts revealed Thursday in a redacted version of special counsel Robert Mueller’s report, Pelosi said impeachment proceedings are not the only way to uncover the facts needed for Congress to hold Trump “accountable.”

Her “Dear Colleague” letter posted on Monday comes before a conference call with House Democrats to discuss her party’s response to the investigation of Russian influence in the 2016 presidential election. Pelosi conceded Democrats don’t all agree on what course they should take following the report’s release last week.

“While our views range from proceeding to investigate the findings of the Mueller report or proceeding directly to impeachment, we all firmly agree that we should proceed down a path of finding the truth,” she wrote.

The letter reveals the delicate balance Democrats are trying to strike between using their constitutional authority to stop Trump or turning their attention to 2020 elections to deny him re-election. Pelosi, who has been trying to tamp down impeachment talk, also wrote that it is “important to know that the facts regarding holding the president accountable can be gained outside of impeachment hearings.” (source: Bloomberg [2])

How very sensible of her, considering that the speaker would never get an impeachment vote past the Senate.

In addition to that, Democrats lack the grounds to impeach. No collusion and not enough evidence for obstruction aren’t grounds for impeachment. Slick Willie was guilty and that is why he was impeached. It is called law for a reason.

Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) is requesting the unredacted special counsel Robert Mueller report; that’s a request for something that does not comply with the law.

That’s why he is asking for it. He knows he will not get it. The Democrats are good at putting on a charade. It is sad that so many people fall for it.

In my view, what is really holding Pelosi back is that she’s been around the block a time or two. She remembers how negative the American public was after Republicans set forth impeachment proceedings for former President Bill Clinton over a private consensual affair.

At the time, 75 percent of the public opposed that partisan pandering to the far-Right base. So even if they were to go through with impeachment today, the Senate will never go through with it, just as they didn’t under Clinton.

This shows me that Democrats do not know how to win elections unless they try to cheat and do so against conventional politicians. They have yet to figure out President Donald Trump and how to beat him.

Actually, he’s given the roadmap to beating him but nobody has figured it out yet — not even the opposition media.
