Fans of fanatical terrorist group ISIS were happy that a fire partially damaged Notre Dame Cathedral — and have made threats on the internet to take down the surviving bell towers.

Al-Muntasir, an ISIS-linked group, posted a photoshopped image of the towers burning.

And they included the words, “Wait for the next.”

When the nearly nine-century-old church went up in flames, the group posted a picture of the blaze with the caption, “Have a good day.”

Despite this, officials determined the fire was accidental and was not arson or part of a terrorist attack.

“So far more than 30 people have been questioned about the fire, most of them were working on the renovation of the cathedral,” The UK’s Express reported.

“Notre Dame, which is a globally recognized symbol of Western Christian culture, has been targeted by terrorists in recent years,” the paper noted.

“In 2016 a car was found near the site carrying seven gas cylinders, three women were arrested over the plot … Al-Muntasir’s latest goading image was revealed by American terror specialists SITE who monitor far-Right and Islamic groups.”

Thankfully, most of the relics and other treasures were saved.

It’s quite miraculous when one considers how ferociously the fire appeared to sweep through the historic and holy site.

The ISIS-related group reportedly also said the fire that occurred during Holy Week was “retribution and punishment,” and the poster allegedly added of Notre Dame, “Its construction began in the year 1163 and ended in 1345. It’s time to say goodbye to your oratory polytheism.”

There is no doubt that Islamic extremists seeking to target some of the most important Christian sites would focus on one as notable as Notre Dame Cathedral.

Are these online threats merely fanatics trying to capitalize on tragedies they had nothing to do with?
