Yale Kicks Out Student After Family Paid a Bribe of Over $1 Million

Opinion piece makes an interesting point: How about firing the admissions officer or officers who gave that individual a spot?

This is beyond ridiculous.

Yale is rescinding a student’s admissions after the school learned the unnamed family took part in paying a bribe of $1 million to gain the student full-time entry.

Yale needs to fire the admissions officer(s) who gave any student a spot as part of the scam.

Why?

Because no admission is offered to a student unless the admissions committee puts the stamp of approval on it.

There have to be some red flags on the files of students whose SAT scores skyrocket over 400 points after two takes.

Also, anyone claiming to be a star athlete should have plenty of evidence to back that claim. Take, for instance, USC student Olivia Jade. How would someone who spends all her time building her “brand” have time to become a star rower?

Yes, there were plenty of reg flags all around. But people looked the other way.

In a statement published on its website on Tuesday, Yale said it had first learned about the scheme in mid-November, when it was approached by the Boston U.S. Attorney’s Office requesting information about head women’s soccer coach Rudy Meredith.

According to the university, Meredith, who left Yale just before it was approached by authorities, provided fraudulent athletic recommendations to “two applicants only.”

One of the two was accepted into Yale in January 2018, after her relatives paid $1.2 million in bribes, according to the charge sheet against Meredith.

The coach also received $400,000 from a go-between who organized the arrangement, though it is not clear whether the student’s family contributed to that sum and if so how much. (source: AFP)

Sadly, expulsion from Yale won’t change these kids’ futures one bit.

Their future success was pre-determined by their families’ wealth.

This college degree was simply a wall-hanging decoration for their future office.

My sympathy goes out to all the kids who studied and worked hard, played by the rules, and were denied enrollment by these universities so these privileged kids could take their spots.

Does anybody else find it ironic that the very elite liberal universities that indoctrinate students with liberal philosophies take million-dollar bribes from the students’ elite parents — just so the elite parents can assure spots at the elite table for their children?

Here’s my news report: “Student expelled from Yale for admissions scandal sues Yale for expelling him based on possible crimes committed by someone else.”

Going to happen — just waiting.
