A new Quinnipiac University poll shows that an overwhelming majority of voters either hold a negative view of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) — or know too little about her to form an opinion.

The numbers are shocking for a woman widely considered to be the socialist leader of the so-called resistance party.

The survey indicates that 36 percent of voters gave Ocasio-Cortez an unfavorable rating, while 23 percent offered a favorable one, putting her underwater by 13 percent.

A remarkably large percentage — 38 percent — said they didn’t know enough about the woman whose social media presence is so vast she offered to give her colleagues a lesson.

Only 2 percent of Republicans view her favorably, while 74 percent chose the opposite.

Independents were 20 percent favorable, compared to 36 percent unfavorable.

Ocasio-Cortez has a negative favorability rating among women and is unknown among African-Americans (61 percent) and Hispanics (49 percent).

Democrats were 47-7 percent in the positive, but a significant 44 percent hadn’t heard enough.

How is it possible that a socialist who is leading her party off a cliff by supporting anti-Semitism and proposing radical and costly platforms with no basis in reality isn’t known by members of her own party?

Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll, issued a statement regarding Ocasio-Cortez’s poll numbers.

“All is definitely not A-OK for AOC,” Malloy said. “Most voters either don’t like the firebrand freshman congresswoman or don’t know who she is.”

Even Vox admitted that “AOC’s poll numbers are bad,” though the site suggests it’s conservative media that is the culprit behind the negativity.

Blames bias. Ocasio-Cortez lashed out rather negatively just 10 days earlier after learning that her “unfavorable” ratings have been on the rise since she took office, according to a separate Gallup poll.

She blamed white men and Fox News for allegedly disproportionate poll numbers.

Bright side. Sure, her numbers are tanking, but Ocasio-Cortez can take solace in the news that another Twitter-savvy, popular-within-his-party politician is doing quite well.

The Daily Presidential Tracking Poll from Rasmussen shows that President Donald Trump’s favorability ratings are in the positive — with 50 percent approving his job performance and 49 percent disapproving.
