After former Vice President Dick Cheney reportedly mocked President Donald Trump’s foreign policy in front of current Vice President Mike Pence at a recent Republican gathering, Donald Trump Jr. defended his dad.

“Isn’t it fitting that Cheney is the one [who’s] mad that Trump is ending his reckless and endless wars?” Trump Jr. tweeted.

“I never knew peace would be so unpopular!” he also said.

“Cheney, who served as vice president to George W. Bush, forced Pence on the defensive over a number of the president’s foreign policy moves in front of an audience of about 200 top Republican donors and lawmakers on Monday at a closed-door retreat hosted by the American Enterprise Institute in Sea Island, Georgia,” Politico reported.

“At one point, the former vice president told the current one that Trump’s policy looks too much like Democratic President Barack Obama’s, which Cheney has repeatedly slammed, according to meeting attendees.”

Cheney compared President Donald Trump to Obama?

Is he joking? Just because Trump wants to put America first?

Trump Jr. is absolutely right that his father is doing everything he can to get us out of nation-building wars that Cheney helped start.

Politico notes:

The conversation, which turned into a civil confrontation, highlighted differences between Trump’s foreign policy and that of former President George W. Bush. Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, both of which began under Bush and Cheney’s watch, have turned away some GOP supporters from Bush’s strategy. But other Republicans have argued Trump is endangering some of the United States’ relationships with traditional international allies and turning away from values defended around the world by presidents from both parties.

Who does Cheney think he is? Everyone is entitled to their opinion, particularly former vice presidents.

But the Iraq War was a complete disaster and our war in Afghanistan is now the longest one in American history.

It’s time to come home.

President Trump understands that being a strong nation doesn’t necessarily mean being all over the world all the time.

Not to mention, we owe it to our brave soldiers to only put them in harm’s way when it is absolutely necessary to the defense of the United States.

What is the U.S. even still doing in Afghanistan after almost two decades?

President Trump is doing the best he can to defend the country.

Dick Cheney is yesterday’s news and doesn’t know what he’s talking about. People like him are a big reason we have many of our foreign policy messes.

Kudos to Don Jr. for sticking up for truth and his Pops!
