Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas) roasted mainstream media members over their hatred for President Donald Trump — and offered some good-natured jabs at the president as well during the Washington Press Club Foundation’s 75th annual congressional dinner on Wednesday.

Texans elected Crenshaw (pictured above) in the November midterm elections. He is a former Navy SEAL officer and lost his right eye in an IED explosion in Afghanistan in 2012.

Crenshaw cracked some jokes during his stand-up routine at the dinner. In particular, he mocked mainstream media members for their bias against Trump and sympathy for Democrats.

“I was a little nervous trying to prepare for this, because they said, ‘Yeah, come make fun of Democrats, it will be fine,'” Crenshaw said. “So I wasn’t sure, should I, like, start ripping on Democrats or should I rip on the press? And then I was like, ‘Eh, they’re kind of the same thing.'”

The audience laughed at this.

The lawmaker also argued that media members should “love” Trump because he made journalism “cool again.”

“And you have endless content, let’s be honest,” Crenshaw said. “Business is good. You should be thanking him.”

Crenshaw also jabbed the media and liberals for being “very sensitive these days” during the Trump administration.

In particular, the congressman laughed at those whom the president has “triggered.”

“It’s so easy to trigger everyone these days, especially if you mention President Donald Trump. I’m triggering some people right now,” Crenshaw said. “Trip and fall? It’s Trump’s fault. Phone died before you’re finished calling your Uber? Trump.”

“You’re dating less? You’re having less sex? Definitely Trump’s fault,” Crenshaw added.

The congressman also poked fun at Trump about the controversy that arose when he called Apple CEO Tim Cook “Tim Apple” during a recent event with Cook.

Cook even changed his name on Twitter after the event to “Tim Apple,” using the company’s apple logo.

Trump pushed back when the media mocked him over “Tim Apple,” tweeting, “At a recent round table meeting of business executives, & long after formally introducing Tim Cook of Apple, I quickly referred to Tim + Apple as Tim/Apple as an easy way to save time & words. The Fake News was disparagingly all over this, & it became yet another bad Trump story!”

Crenshaw voiced the thoughts he imagined went through the president’s head during the meeting with Cook.

“‘Tim. Makes a lot of money. More money than me? No. Not possible,'” Crenshaw said. “‘When you brand, it should be your last name, Tim Apple.'”

Crenshaw also mocked freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) for her radical Green New Deal resolution to combat climate change.

Many 2020 Democratic presidential contenders rushed to back the plan.

The congressman joked that he and director Steven Spielberg were planning a film together.

“The first movie we started with was to rename ‘Planes, Trains and Automobiles,'” Crenshaw told the crowd. “It’s the Green New Deal edition, so it’s just called ‘Trains.'”
