AOC Blames Right-Wing Media for Death Threats Against Her

Democratic socialist from New York had better take a closer look at her own behavior and statements, argues this opinion piece

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) is contending that conservative media are behind the increasing number of death threats she and her office have received regularly, according to an interview she did with the New York Daily News.

How can AOC blame right-wing media for death threats?

I am sure many of them want her out of office, but their anger is limited to yelling on Twitter and Facebook, for the most part.

AOC’s represents the Bronx and Queens districts of New York.

She’s also been part of very radical discussions that have not only angered Republicans but Democrat leaders — who feel she is taking the party into a place they never imagined.

“It’s very clear that when right-wing media starts to heat up, that’s directly correlated to the amount of violent, targeted threats we get,” said Ocasio-Cortez, a Democrat whose district covers parts of the Bronx and Queens.

“There’s clearly a correlation between the intensity of Fox News and Breitbart and all those folks and the amount of threats that we get.”

The freshman lawmaker apologized for not being able to make her schedule public and said U.S. Capitol Police have advised her against doing so.

“It’s a pretty regular thing, so we just have to be super-vigilant,” Ocasio-Cortez said.

She added that she’s relieved to be spending this week at home in the Bronx.

“I feel safest when I’m home, so that’s the upside,” she said. (source: Daily News)

Ever since AOC joined Congress, the Capitol Police have trained AOC’s staff on how to handle visitors when they enter the office.

AOC needs to start looking at the people of New York when it comes to those threats.

She’s the one who stopped Amazon from bringing needed jobs to the state of New York — so even though she claims she feels safest when she’s home, she needs to look more closely at her surroundings.
