Zachary Greenberg, the 28-year-old suspect in the brutal assault of a conservative activist on the campus of University of California, Berkeley, last month (shown above), is facing multiple felony counts, prosecutors announced on Tuesday.

“Last Friday, 10 days after the attack, police identified and arrested the suspect,” said Fox News host Laura Ingraham on “The Ingraham Angle” on Tuesday night, updating television viewers on  the latest developments in the case.

Right after the arrest, Hayden Williams, the victim of the attack, told Ingraham, “I remain disappointed with UC Berkeley and the fact that they allowed such a culture of intolerance and violence toward conservative viewpoints to grow at Berkeley and even thrive, really.”

Ingraham reported that Williams is considering filing a civil suit.

“We are pleased that the good investigative work of our police department has led to the filing of these charges,” Dan Mogoluf, assistant vice chancellor at UC Berkeley, told Fox News.

“The university believes that those who violate the free-speech rights of others must be held accountable and face the appropriate consequences,” Mogoluf added.

Charges filed against Greenberg include three felonies and one misdemeanor count of vandalism, according to the Alameda Superior Court’s online records.

The felony counts include assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury, battery with serious bodily injury, and criminal threats.

Charlie Kirk, founder and president of the conservative group Turning Point USA, issued a statement after Greenberg’s arrest calling the evidence in the case “incontrovertible.”

“Today, we have finally learned the identity of the attacker and that the violent man has been arrested. While every American should be afforded their due process, we believe that the video evidence in this case is incontrovertible. We hope 28-year-old Zachary Greenberg is prosecuted to the full extent of the law for assault with a deadly weapon, which should be considered an act of hate. Hopefully, this dark chapter will act as a wake-up call to those concerned about actual politically motivated hate crimes in America.”

The case garnered national attention after video of the alleged assault on February 19 went viral.

The video showed a struggle over Williams’ phone and Greenberg punching Williams in the face.

Williams, not a student but a field representative for the conservative Leadership Institute, was on campus assisting Turning Point USA with recruitment efforts when the incident occurred.

President Donald Trump addressed the case at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) on Saturday, calling Williams to the stage to thunderous applause.

He complimented Williams’ toughness and praised his attorney, Harmeet Dhillon, a longtime advocate of students’ rights, including freedom of speech.
