At a time when many within the NFL are outspokenly critical of President Donald Trump, the New England Patriots are the rare exception.

Quarterback Tom Brady, head coach Bill Belichick, and owner Robert Kraft (shown above left) all have friendships with the president and have been rumored in the past to be supportive of his policies.

Trump took to Twitter to offer praise and congratulations to the Patriots for making it to Super Bowl LIII.

Considering the fact that most of the president’s tweets regarding the NFL are negative and critical — especially in regard to the national anthem kneeling by players and others — it was a rare moment of unity between the sport and the country’s leader.

“Congratulations to Bob Kraft, Bill Belichick, Tom Brady and the entire New England Patriots team on a great game and season,” the president tweeted last month.

“Will be a fantastic Super Bowl!”

Appearing on Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends” on Friday morning, Kraft seemed pleased at the president’s support.

“Well, we can use every fan who wants to support us from wherever they are in their standard of life. I’ll tell you, this year we, and last year — we started the Lodge Homeless shelter in Boston. We’ve done a video for them and we sponsor a big brunch for them, so they all can come in and it’s very well attended, so we love all fans,” said Kraft.

He added of Trump, “Well, I’ve had a lot of people give me advice and he’s been very supportive. And I know he’s working very hard to serve the best interests of the country.”

If the New England Patriots prove victorious this Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams, it will be the team’s sixth Super Bowl victory.

All of the team’s Super Bowl victories have been during Belichick and Brady’s leadership of the team.
