New England Patriots’ Super Bowl Victory Is Historic: The Dynasty Continues
Tom Brady and Bill Belichick now have earned six rings together — 'greatest of all time'
Sunday was a historic night for quarterback Tom Brady, coach Bill Belichick and the rest of the New England Patriots team.
The Patriots beat the Los Angeles Rams 13-3 in Super Bowl LIII, the lowest-scoring Super Bowl of all-time.
It might not have been their best offensive effort, but this major win kept their dynasty — and Brady’s and Belichick’s legacies — rolling for numerous reasons.
With the win at 41 years old, Brady is now the oldest starting quarterback in NFL history to win a Super Bowl; and with six Super Bowl victories, he has more than any other player in the history of the league.
At 66 years old, Belichick is the oldest head coach to win it. And now, he has more Super Bowl wins than any other head coach ever, thanks to this high level of success.
This Super Bowl win means the Patriots now have tied the Pittsburgh Steelers for the most wins ever. However, the Patriots are the only team to win it more than twice in the 21st century, as all of their wins in it have come since 2002 — with Brady as quarterback and Belichick as head coach.
The Patriots have made 11 Super Bowl appearances.
For Brady, it was yet another competent performance at the highest stage against a tough defense. It was far from his best Super Bowl performance, but he completed 21 of his 35 passes for 262 yards and threw only one interception.
Patriots fans were thrilled to see their favorite football team deliver yet again.
Jared Carrabis of Barstool Sports tweeted out, “FOR THE SIXTH TIME, THE NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS ARE SUPER BOWL CHAMPIONS!! TOM BRADY HAS RINGS ON A SECOND HAND!! BOW DOWN TO THE CITY OF CHAMPIONS!! GREATEST QB IN HISTORY!! GREATEST HEAD COACH IN HISTORY!! FIRE UP THE DUCK BOATS AGAIN!!”

Patriots fan Tanner Brown wrote, “Tom Brady is playing such great defense tonight. To think that he’s doing this at 41 years old is just amazing. Truly the [GOAT].”

By goat, of course, Brown means, “greatest of all time.”
Steve Engel also summed up his thoughts in a brief tweet: “Brady and Belichick — the best ever.”

Although the game was not Brady’s top performance in Super Bowl history, the Patriots’ defense largely shut down the Rams.
They held the opposition to a 50-percent pass completion rate and just 3.4 yards per rush. They sacked Rams Jared Goff four times — and Patriots defensive back Stephon Gilmore intercepted him in the red zone with 4:17 remaining in the contest, crushing the Rams chances of tying the game.
At the time, the Patriots held a 10-3 lead.

Even though the Patriots star quarterback and head coach are getting up there in age — in terms of this sport at least — there are no signs either of them will quit any time soon.
Last week, Brady said he aspires to play until he’s 45 years old and the tight-lipped Belichick has never mentioned retirement as a possibility.
