Nearly 200 Illegal Immigrants Were Arrested in North Carolina This Week
'Charging elected officials with treason' for their sanctuary cities might help fix the problem, says opinion writer
The biggest threat to the security of this country is the Democratic Party!
Am I wrong?
If you are like me, you are probably wondering how these Democrats are allowed to break our laws or teach others to do the same. Why hasn’t anyone arrested them is the question? Do the people need to arm themselves to arrest them or what?
Maybe it’s time Americans followed the Constitution and take back our country.
Sean Gallagher, ICE Atlanta field office director, said this — the arrest of illegal immigrants — is the new normal.
“Residents should expect a more visible ICE presence in the Raleigh-Durham area [of North Carolina],” Gallagher said. “ICE will now have no choice but to conduct more at large arrests in local neighborhoods and at work sites, which will inevitably result in additional collateral arrests instead of arrests at the jail, where enforcement is safer for everyone involved.”
“This is the direct conclusion of dangerous policies of not cooperating with ICE,” said Sean Gallagher, who oversees the agency’s operation in the Carolinas and Georgia. “This forces my officers to go out onto the street to conduct more enforcement.”
Since December, newly elected sheriffs in the state’s two most populous counties — Mecklenburg and Wake — have reversed a policy that notifies ICE about the legal status of inmates in county jails. The Durham County Sheriff’s Office also ended the practice of honoring ICE detainers.
These changes, Gallagher said, have given the agency “no choice” but to conduct targeted enforcement across the state this week. “This is politics over public safety at its worst.” (source: The Charlotte Observer)
Going after those who hire illegals by imposing stiff fines and severe penalties would deter many.
Charging elected officials with treason for offering so-called sanctuary cities is the next logical step.
After North Carolina’s largest counties cut ties with federal immigration officers, ICE said it’s been forced to step up enforcement. https://t.co/ThcQ0F3XGC
