One of the more bizarre moments to come out of the Grammy Awards ceremony on Sunday night was a cameo from former first lady Michelle Obama.

Celebrities at the ceremony literally embraced her with open arms as she walked onto the stage holding hands with Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga and Jada Pinkett Smith.

Lopez, Gaga and Smith spoke about the virtues of art — and then Mrs. Obama began speaking.

Before she could get a full sentence out, the audience went wild with applause — with some people literally jumping for joy.

“Music has always helped me tell my story … whether we like country or rap or rock, music helps us share ourselves, our dignity and sorrows, our hopes and joys,” said Michelle Obama.

“It allows us to hear one another. To invite one another in,” Mrs. Obama said.

Obama later took to her social media to say she was “thrilled” to participate in the Grammys.

“For me, a big part of friendship is showing up for your girls ― whether that’s for a birthday, a quick catch-up after work, or a major milestone,” Obama wrote along with posting a picture of herself with Lopez, Gaga, Smith, and Grammys host Alicia Keys (pictured above left).

“So I was thrilled to be there for the one and only @aliciakeys at the #GRAMMYs. She is one of the most genuine, caring, and thoughtful people I know — there’s no one better to help us all celebrate the unifying power of music!”

While one can argue Obama’s words were not divisive, her appearance at the music and entertainment awards show was quite a political statement.

While some viewers celebrated her appearance, others recognized it as just another example of Hollywood showing its aggressive left-wing bias.

“I thought the #GRAMMYs were about music? Liberals ruin everything!” wrote conservative commentator Mark Dice on Twitter.
