Another “wacky liberal” stepped onto the crowded 2020 presidential field when Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) formally announced his presidential bid on Tuesday, Fox News host Laura Ingraham noted on Tuesday night on “The Ingraham Angle.”

Sanders unsuccessfully vied against 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton during the primaries that year. And now the Democrats’ 2020 field is crowded with a diverse array of candidates — plenty of whom are decades younger than the 77-year-old Sanders.

Sanders (pictured above center) spoke with CBS News’ John Dickerson shortly after making his big announcement. He assured his supporters he will champion progressive policies such as universal health care, vastly increased minimum wages, free college tuition and more — just as he did in 2016.

“All of those ideas people were saying, ‘Oh Bernie, they’re so radical. They are extreme. The American people just won’t accept those ideas,'” Sanders told Dickerson. “Well, you know what’s happened in over three years? All of those ideas and many more are now part of the political mainstream.”

Once hailed as a radical far out of the political mainstream, Sanders is now seeing that most of the 2020 Democrat contenders are advocating his progressive and socialist views.

“Another day, another wacky liberal steps onto the 2020 field,” Ingraham said on Tuesday night. “And although it wasn’t any real surprise when Vermont socialist Bernie Sanders decided to formally enter the race, it’s always stunning to hear what the muppet-like leftie actually believes.”

But “massive tax hikes” would be used to pay for Sanders’ radical policies, Ingraham warned.

“Bernie’s coming for your money. And there aren’t enough billionaires to pay for the trillions in spending he has in mind,” she said. “But Bernie will have to fend off challengers who are decades younger and decidedly more diverse.”

Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) (pictured above right), born to a Jamaican father and Indian mother, is more than 20 years younger than Sanders.

“As for Sen. Harris, she wants to do to America what the Democrat Party is doing today to California,” Ingraham said, noting that the progressive Harris lacks “sound fiscal ideas.”

Harris even advocated for eliminating all for-profit health care insurers during a CNN town hall in January.

And then there’s Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) (above left), another progressive woman whose campaign will be dogged by the fallout from her dishonest Native-American ancestry claims.

“And let’s not forget Princess Running Left — Elizabeth Warren,” Ingraham said. “Well, she’s obviously going for the freeloaders’ votes — supporting perhaps more taxpayer-funded freebies than any other candidate out there. And that’s saying something. Free health care, free college — oh, come on. That’s so passé. Why not free child care?”

Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.), Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) and others round out the Democrats’ 2020 roster thus far.

“Look, it’s easy to laugh off this parade of liberals. But remember that the Democrat Party is becoming more — not less — radical,” Ingraham said. “My friends, if Democrats win, they’re coming to take your money — the money you’ve made in this strong economy, the money you’ve worked really hard for.”

“And they want to blow it on pipe-dream policies that may sound kind of cool at a rally, but in practice they never work. They just really love spending other people’s money,” Ingraham added.

Former U.S. Secret Service agent Dan Bongino, a conservative commentator, told Ingraham that “there are really two lanes in the Democrat Party right now running for the nomination for 2020: the radicals and the extreme radicals.”

“The problem is although this may appeal to a very passionate base of ‘Bernie Bros’ and whatever, you will never win a general election running on hiking taxes, taking people’s health care, and taking over the education system. And throw open borders in — you have absolutely no chance,” Bongino said.

“If Democrats win, they’re coming to take your money — the money you’ve made in this strong economy.”

Fox News contributor and Washington Times columnist Monica Crowley told Ingraham, “It wasn’t Bernie Sanders who brought the party to the radical Left.”

“It was President Obama. And people forget that — they overlook that,” she added. “Barack Obama’s the one who moved the Democrats away from the party of Bill Clinton now to a socialist revolutionary party that has made people like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez possible.”

But Brian Moore, the 2008 Socialist Party USA presidential nominee, insisted that Sanders and the others really aren’t socialists at all.

“They’re just reformers of the capitalist system. But they’re still within the traditional capitalist system,” Moore argued.

When Ingraham asked Moore to explain where in the world socialism has worked, he admitted, “Nowhere.”

“And the reason it isn’t working is because the United States of America and other capitalist countries have undermined any efforts by a legitimate democratically elected socialist to redistribute the wealth,” Moore said. “Socialism promotes freedom and liberty and egalitarianism.”
