ABC News’ “The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg lectured newly minted Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) on Monday for “pooping on people and what they’ve done” after less than a week on the job with few, if any, congressional accomplishments under her own belt.

Ocasio-Cortez (pictured above right) became a progressive star last summer after she pulled off a stunning upset primary victory against 10-term former Rep. Joe Crowley (D-N.Y.), the former chair of the House Democratic Caucus.

She easily won the general election in the November midterms.

Ocasio-Cortez, the youngest woman ever elected to Congress, was sworn into office last Thursday along with the new Democratic majority. She has promised to bring radical change to Congress and fight for progressive policies and working-class Americans.

She spoke with CNN anchor and CBS correspondent Anderson Cooper for an interview that aired on Sunday night on CBS News’ “60 Minutes.”

Cooper asked Ocasio-Cortez about her efforts to eliminate “the influence of corporate money in politics,” noting she has “angered some of her colleagues in the House by encouraging primary challenges of Democrats who accept corporate money or oppose progressive policies.”

“These are politically dangerous tactics that you’re using,” Cooper warned.

Ocasio-Cortez replied, “It’s absolutely risky. it requires risk to try something new, but also we — we know so much of — of what we’ve tried in the past hasn’t worked, either.”

These comments did not sit well with Goldberg (above left).

“Listen, let me just say this about Ocasio-Cortez. She just got in on Thursday. She was sworn in,” Goldberg said. “And she’s very opinionated, which we like. We like opinionated women.”

“But it is very, very difficult when people make accusations where you say, you know, the Democrats have — have done nothing … the establishment of the Democrats have done nothing,” Goldberg added.

Goldberg noted that Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.), a civil rights leader, “wasn’t sitting still.”

She said that Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), who was elected alongside former Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) as California’s first female U.S. senators, also “wasn’t sitting still.”

“There are a whole bunch of people in the Democratic Party who have been busting their a***s to make sure that women get what they need, people get what they need, children get what they need,” Goldberg argued. “So you just got in there and I know you got lots of good ideas, but I would encourage you to sit still for a minute and learn the job.”

“The View” audience greeted Goldberg’s criticism of Ocasio-Cortez with a round of applause.

“And you know … because there are people in that party who have been working their tails off for this country,” Goldberg continued. “And they know a lot … And you could learn some stuff from them.”

“And I just feel like, you know, you don’t have to be born into it. You don’t have to know it when you step out,” Goldberg concluded. “But before you start pooping on people and what they’ve done, you’ve got to do something, too.”

Separately, new Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas) also recently criticized Ocasio-Cortez on Twitter after some conservatives made a huge fuss over a college video of a dancing Ocasio-Cortez.

Crenshaw personally took no issue with the light-hearted dancing.

After that, Ocasio-Cortez cheekily posted a video of herself dancing outside her new congressional office, writing, “I hear the GOP thinks women dancing are scandalous. Wait ’til they find out congresswomen dance too! Have a great weekend everyone :).”

Crenshaw roasted Ocasio-Cortez on Twitter, writing, “No one thinks this is scandalous. Dance away (was actually pretty good). What is scandalous is increasing income taxes to 70 percent. It’s wholly unethical for anyone to work a majority of the year just to give their money to the government. Dancing’s great, but ideas matter more.”

In her same interview with Cooper, Ocasio-Cortez said she planned on funding her radical Green New Deal plan with a “progressive tax rate system” that could result in a tax as high as 70 percent.
