The New England Patriots are headed to the Super Bowl yet again — and President Donald Trump took the time to congratulate the team via Twitter on Sunday night after their 37-31 win over the Kansas City Chiefs.

“Congratulations to Bob Kraft, Bill Belichick, Tom Brady and the entire New England Patriots team on a great game and season.”

“Will be a fantastic Super Bowl!” Trump tweeted.

The Patriots’ victory over the Chiefs on Sunday night  means New England will go up against the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl LIII.

The game takes place on February 3 in Atlanta, Georgia.

The New England Patriots have been in a golden age for some time now, with Tom Brady as their quarterback and Belichick as their coach. They’ve won five Super Bowl championships and been to the Super Bowl five other times, including last year.

Every Super Bowl victory they’ve won has been with Brady and Belichick.

What’s also impressive about the team’s trip to the Super Bowl this year: Many people expected Brady to be retired at this point.

At 41, he’s far older then the average NFL athlete. To play the way he does and still have the sort of victories he does is truly a marvel.

The Sunday night game against the Chiefs was a nail-biter that went into overtime; it marked the Patriots’ third straight AFC title.

Though the Patriots have plenty of support — including from the president — they also have their share of critics who often target Brady’s age and the team’s sometimes flaky defense strategies.

“Just remember. I’m too old, you’re too slow, we’ve got no skill position players, we’ve got no defense. F*** that!” Brady was reportedly heard telling wide receiver Chris Hogan after their latest game. Clearly he was tweaking the team’s naysayers.

Trump has been supportive of the Patriots in the past and enjoys friendships with Kraft (CEO of the Patriots), Belichick and Brady.

All three, in fact, have refused to be critical of the president at a time when many other athletes have made public statements against Trump or knelt during the playing of the national anthem to make political statements.

Whether one agrees with Trump or not on various issues of the day, he’s right about one thing: It’s going to be a fantastic Super Bowl.

Brady is defying the odds — and with Kraft and Belichick standing next to him, he’s creating a sports dynasty like no other.
