A 16-year-old girl in South Euclid, Ohio, was not happy when her father took away her cellphone.

And the teenager apparently felt the situation was so dire that she actually called 911 — which he did not buy, as WDTN and other outlets noted.

“My father took my property, which is an $800 phone that does not belong to him. He didn’t buy it,” the teen exclaimed.

This dispute over a phone, of course, was not a top priority for the police, who said, “Certainly, if we were busy, it would be pushed to the back burner, but we still have an obligation to respond.”

As a result, the police showed up at the house with body cameras and caught some of the family dispute on video.

While the teen said she wanted her phone back, the father, Anthony Robertson, argued that his daughter was still a juvenile, so he did not want her to have a phone, especially one that he could not inspect.

Fox News host Laura Ingraham of “The Ingraham Angle” weighed in on the situation on Thursday night — and supported the father’s point of view. The call to the police by the teen was an over-the-top move, she felt.

“The police have so much on their hands and now they’re having to give life advice to people,” she said.

Fox News contributor Raymond Arroyo offered praise for the father, declaring that he should set the rules in his household.

“Good for that guy,” he said. “He intervened, he took the phone from his daughter, and he heard about the apps, where she’s hiding things from him. He doesn’t want that going on, so he took the phone.”

The South Euclid Police Department posted a message about the incident on its Facebook page last Saturday.

Turns out the police took the dad’s side, too.

“On 01/12/2019 1336 hours: Officers were dispatched to Plainfield Rd for a Theft report,” the department wrote. “Upon arrival, the 16-year-old complainant said her father stole her cellular telephone. In speaking with her father, he said he took the phone away for disciplinary reasons. The girl insisted it was a theft and she was entitled to the phone. Officers explained that having a cell phone under under the age of 18 is a ‘privilege’ and not a ‘right,’ as she believes. Officers suggested she follow the rules her father set, if she hoped to get the phone returned.”

So did the teen get the cellphone back?

Here’s what her father had to say about it: “Most definitely not. I can watch her attitude. When her attitude changes, then I’ll give it back to her.”
