A piece in BuzzFeed recently shared an unsubstantiated and unverified claim about President Donald Trump — and Hollywood is already celebrating.

The left-leaning news site published a report claiming the president directed his former personal attorney, Michael Cohen, to lie to members of Congress and deny there were ever plans to build a Trump Tower in Moscow.

There is no proof this actually happened. And on Friday, the office of special counsel Robert Mueller even put out an extraordinary statement disputing the report. “BuzzFeed’s description of specific statements to the special counsel’s Office, and characterization of documents and testimony obtained by this office, regarding Michael Cohen’s congressional testimony are not accurate,” declared Peter Carr, a spokesman for Mueller’s office, as Fox News noted.

Yet many celebrities all day long on Friday expressed their elation over the BuzzFeed report — and indicated they accepted it as fact.

Longtime Trump nemesis Rosie O’Donnell was among those who reacted with enthusiasm to the news.

She tweeted, “He is f***** #happyDAY #ImpeachTheMFTraitor.”

Comedian Kathy Griffin, who once posed with what appeared to be the severed head of the president, tweeted out in all capital letters, “IMPEACH AND CONVICT THE M***********’.

Comedian Michael Ian Black also had a vulgar response to the report — much of which is unprintable.

He tweeted, “In addition to high crimes and misdemeanors, it seems like you should be able to impeach a president for being a total f****** d*****bag.”

Actress Alyssa Milano kept her thoughts concise (and clean). She simply wrote of Trump, “He’s toast.”

In similar fashion, actress Debra Messing responded to a tweet saying the president must resign with flame emojis.

Director and actor Rob Reiner came out with more of his usual leftist rhetoric, too.

He wrote, “We can now add suborning perjury to the long list of Donald Trump’s criminality. How many more crimes does this childish entitled ignorant narcissistic moronic unstable pathological liar have to commit…?” He went on at the end there — but it’s too crude to reprint.

George Takei, of “Star Trek” fame, also appeared pleased with the BuzzFeed report.

The actor tweeted, “Anyone else notice that the allegations and evidence against Trump keep getting more serious and rock solid? This is no doubt by design; the nation needs to understand that we’re dealing with a criminal who has something to hide before Mueller reveals what it is Trump is hiding.”

Since the news broke on January 17, actor Joshua Malina took the opportunity to remind the world it was his birthday.

Clearly pleased with the report, he tweeted, “Happy birthday to me.”

The article also led actress Natasha Rothwell, who is no Trump fan, to joke, “If BuzzFeed takes down Trump y’all gonna take those quizzes more seriously.”
