“What we are witnessing now are the desperate gasps of the Trump agenda,” late-night host Seth Meyers declared to his audience on Wednesday night.

The comedian went on an anti-Trump rant — and his focus of criticism was the current partial government shutdown over funding for the proposed border wall between the United States and Mexico.

Meyers pushed the flimsy narrative that a border wall is an ineffective way to battle illegal immigration.

“Trump’s wall is so stupid that not only can it be beaten by a saw, it can be beaten by Bugs Bunny. In fact, if you listen to Trump explain how he thinks migrants sneak across the southern border, he might actually be thinking about Bugs Bunny,” said Meyers.

The comedian then played a clip of President Donald Trump talking about people sneaking across the border.

Meyers also brought up several reports about border crossings and a potential security wall — and used that as “evidence” that Trump’s plan for a wall is frivolous. The first report was that one of the potential border walls that’s under consideration could be cut through with a saw. In a clip showing media members asking about this, Trump said that a previous administration put together that particular wall — that it needed serious work.

That wasn’t enough explanation for Meyers — who ran with that report and the fact that people dig tunnels under the already existing border walls — though many conservatives would likely say the existing border wall is not nearly secure enough.

“Every day, we find out more about how useless the wall is. And that’s why public opinion is against it and every time Trump sees a new poll about the shutdown, it’s like a kick in the wang doodle,” he declared.
