James Woods is one of President Donald Trump’s few outspoken supporters in the Hollywood community.

The two-time Academy Award winner often goes to the mat for the president as well as conservative principles on his Twitter account, which sports over 1.9 million followers.

That outspokenness has come at a cost.

Woods’ acting career has slowed and the “Casino” and “Videodrome” star says he believes many people within the industry began blacklisting him after he publicly criticized former President Barack Obama.

Now, on Sunday night, Trump himself thanked Woods for his support.

Responding to a story about Trump’s recent compromise offer on the partial government shutdown and funding for the border wall between the United States and Mexico, Woods wrote, “Well played, Mr. President. You keep trying to make a deal and the Democrats would rather frolic on the beach. Both your speech and your proposal today were eminently presidential. Thank you for your efforts to protect our nation and our Constitution.”

The president took the compliment to heart.

He tweeted back, “Thanks James!”

Woods responded by saying he has “respect” for Trump’s “determination” and that it is an honor to publicly support him.

“I’m honored, Mr. President,” tweeted Woods.

“Those of us who respect your determination to keep campaign promises marvel at your ability to weather the vitriol of #Democrats and their media lackeys,” he added. “We are devoted to this nation and your love for it. We are here for you.”

Woods recently earned praise from both sides of the political aisle for his work in helping people during the California wildfire crisis, which claimed dozens of lives and numerous homes.

Woods turned his Twitter account into an emergency broadcast system for California residents and their family and friends. He put out vital information for those seeking help and even connected missing family members.
