The latest episode of “Family Guy” did the least brave thing a comedy can do these days: It made President Donald Trump the target of the majority of its jokes.

In the new episode of the long-running adult-themed animated series — titled “Trump Guy” — main character Peter Griffin gets hired to work in the White House by President Trump because he admires Griffin’s recently discovered knack for creating fake news.

The script provided predictable and outdated attacks on the president.

The cartoon version of Trump has small hands, sports a heavy spray tan, wears a hairpiece, and more — there’s nothing original to see here, just a collection of sad liberal digs that have been trotted out for years now.

In the same episode, Trump is shown praising Russian leader Vladimir Putin, sexualizing his daughter Ivanka Trump, and getting into a fist fight with Peter Griffin.

The “Family Guy” Trump also sexually assaults a character on the show — Meg Griffin — in an act that tears him and Peter apart.

The biggest shame of the latest episode of “Family Guy” is that the left-leaning show has treated conservative characters with respect in the past.

Viewers of the show — no matter their political affiliation — deserve better.

Outspoken conservative James Woods played a version of himself on the series numerous times — though he did say he turned down an episode this season that was too politically charged, and it may have been this one. And well-known radio host Rush Limbaugh even appeared as himself on the series in an episode that allowed him time to lay out some right-leaning views and reveal himself in a sympathetic light to the show’s more liberal viewers.

The Trump episode of “Family Guy” essentially did nothing at all to add to any cultural conversation. Even worse than that, it just wasn’t funny.

Anti-Trump humor is so played out and unoriginal at this point. This episode of “Family Guy” felt as if the writers didn’t even show up for work. They merely hunted for anti-Trump tweets from troll accounts on Twitter — and then made those second-tier “insights” their dialogue.

Viewers of the show — no matter their political affiliation — deserve better.
