Conservative social media users roundly mocked CNN reporter Jim Acosta for inadvertently making President Donald Trump’s border wall case for him on Thursday — after Acosta tweeted a video of himself by a steel border wall.

It’s no secret that Acosta — whose White House press credentials were temporarily yanked after a controversial briefing with Trump in November — is no fan of Trump’s strict immigration enforcement policies.

Acosta (pictured above) traveled to McAllen, Texas, on Thursday. Trump delivered a speech about why his request for wall funding is essential to border security amid a partial government shutdown.

The Democrats’ new talking point — as well as many members of the mainstream media’s — is calling the illegal immigration and border crisis a “manufactured crisis” that the GOP designed to force the funding of Trump’s border wall.

Trump delivered his first Oval Office address on Tuesday evening, which the major TV networks carried during prime time.

The address occurred amid a partial government shutdown, which resulted from Democrats’ refusal to give Trump the $5 billion in border wall funding he’s requested.

But Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) delivered their joint rebuttals Tuesday night and have refused to budge on their anti-border wall stance.

Trump is now threatening to secure border wall funding by declaring a state of national emergency.

Acosta apparently tried to dismiss the idea of a national emergency at the border by posting a video of himself at the seemingly peaceful border in Texas — while actually walking along a steel border wall.

“I found some steel slats down on the border. But I don’t see anything resembling a national emergency situation … at least not in the McAllen, [Texas], area of the border where Trump will be today,” Acosta tweeted with the video.

Acosta added, “The steel slats don’t run the entire length of the border in the McAllen area. We found one part where there is a chain link fence. Occasionally migrants come through, but residents say their community is quite safe.”

In the video, Acosta said, “As we are walking along here, we are not seeing any sort of imminent dangers. There are no migrants trying to rush toward this fence.”

Acosta’s first tweet earned him intense mockery from conservatives on social media — who applauded him for making Trump’s case for him.

“It’s almost as though having steel slats might help prevent illegal immigration where you’re filming, dolt,” Ben Shapiro, Daily Wire’s editor-in-chief, tweeted.

House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) responded, “Glad to see the steel slats are deterring illegal immigrants from attempting to cross the border exactly as @realDonaldTrump said they would. This is why we need to #BuildTheWall along the rest of our southern border. #WallsWork.”

Trump 2020 presidential campaign manager Brad Parscale mocked Acosta, tweeting, “I would like to thank @Acosta for pointing out how peaceful, safe and secure it is at a part of the border that HAS a wall. #RealNews #BuildTheWall.”

Alyssa Farah, Vice President Mike Pence’s press secretary, noted, “Exactly — walls work!”

Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) tweeted, “Brilliant reporting from CNN’s @Acosta — walls work! Thank you Jim!”

Conservative Caleb Hull tweeted, “Jim Acosta just posted one of the biggest self owns ever. He’s walking along the border where there’s a wall in place talking about how there’s nothing that ‘resembles a national emergency situation’ and ‘there’s no migrants trying to rush.’ That’s because there’s a wall, Jim.”
