CNN political commentator Ana Navarro took desperate measures to dismiss other points of view by filing her nails on national television on Wednesday night as GOP commentator Steve Cortes talked about the murders committed by illegal immigrants.

He also advocated for border security measures.

The “Cuomo Prime Time” panel argued about the partial government shutdown over border security, President Donald Trump’s demand for $5 billion in wall funding, and the Democrats’ refusal to budge.

The president delivered an Oval Office address on Tuesday evening, which the major TV networks carried during prime time.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) offered their joint rebuttals afterward.

Trump is now threatening to declare the border crisis a national emergency if Democrats refuse to allow wall funding.

CNN anchor Chris Cuomo (pictured above center) booked Cortes (above right) and Navarro (above left) to discuss the shutdown and the president’s border security demands.

But a peeved Navarro expressed more interest in filing her nails on live television than in listening to Cortes talk about illegal immigrant crime and the need for a wall.

“The point is the illegal alien crime rate should be zero,” Cortes told Cuomo as Navarro loudly sighed, rolled her eyes, and whipped out her nail file.

“It should be — you can do your nails,” Cortes told her. “You know who can’t do their nails are people who have been killed, Ana, by dangerous known illegal aliens who have been allowed to stay in this country because of the leftist policies that people like you promote in so-called sanctuary cities.”

That snapped Navarro back into the discussion — she lashed out at Cortes for calling her a “leftist” because she identifies as a Republican.

But Navarro, a Floridian, voted for Democrat Andrew Gillum in the Florida gubernatorial election against Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) and has opposed Trump at nearly every turn.

“I’m so tired of you calling me leftist already just because you want to compromise your values,” Navarro said.

Cortes fired back, “Go back to filing your nails.”

“I don’t have to care. And a lot of America doesn’t have to care,” Navarro replied.

“He doesn’t have that luxury because he’s dead,” Cortes said about the victim of an illegal immigrant criminal.

After the two began shouting over each other, Cuomo butted back in and tried to regain control of the segment.

“Steve, let me just tell you something. Get down off the soap box. Because if you want to worry about who can file their nails, worry about who can pay their damn bills,” Cuomo said.

“The shutdown is on your head, my brother. This is what the president wanted. He has it now and people are paying the price,” Cuomo added.

“And until they end it, they won’t be filing their nails or anything else that a paycheck provides.”
