Claire McCaskill Is Now a Political Analyst on TV

During an interview with former Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) on Tuesday morning, “Morning Joe” co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mike Brzezinksi made a dramatic announcement.

They said that McCaskill now has a new position.

She is joining MSNBC and NBC as a political analyst.

“I’m looking forward to bringing my experience from the Senate, hard-fought campaigns, and Midwest common sense to the coverage of breaking political events. And, as always, I won’t hold back,” McCaskill said.

The former senator, 65, lives in St. Louis, Missouri, with her husband.

First elected in 2006, McCaskill served as a senator until last month.

She was a two-term incumbent and was defeated by Republican Josh Hawley (shown above, beside McCaskill) in November in a heated race that garnered national attention.

President Donald Trump carried the state of Missouri in 2016 by 18.5 points; Mitt Romney carried it by nearly 9 points in 2012.

McCaskill is a former prosecutor and state auditor.

Before she left the Senate last month, McCaskill was the top-ranking Democrat on the Homeland Security Committee, as Fox News noted.

She also was a senior member of the Armed Services Committee.

One of McCaskill’s first big assignments will be helping MSNBC in its coverage of President Donald Trump’s State of the Union Address on January 29, according to reports.
